Understanding Co-Occurring Conditions in Autism: Implications for Service and Supervision

1 Supervision CE BCBA | 1 Comorbidities/Multiple Diagnosis CE QABA

Course Overview

Over 70% of BCBAs work with autistic individuals (BACB, 2022)—many of whom present with complex co-occurring conditions such as epilepsy, anxiety, and other behavioral and medical diagnoses.

Yet despite our ethical mandate to “consider organic variables,” behavior analytic training often falls short in preparing us to recognize, understand, or address these complexities.

This CEU course bridges that gap. Designed for behavior analysts, supervisors, and integrated care professionals, it explores how training limitations can compromise care—and how we can lead change through trauma-informed, team-based approaches

What You’ll Learn

By the end of the course, you will be able to:
  • Identify gaps in behavior analytic training, practice, and supervision related to complex needs
  • Recognize common organic variables and their impact on learning
  • Strengthen collaborative, team-based practices in service delivery and supervision
  • Apply evidence-based supervision strategies in integrated care contexts

  • 1 Supervision CEU BACB
  • 1 Comorbidities/Multiple Diagnosis CEU QABA
